Replacing the Brother LC51C Ink Cartridge

The Brother LC51C ink cartridge is a cyan ink cartridge that is used in many Brother all-in-one machines, copy machines, and fax machines. This cartridge yields about 400 pages of normal printing. This provides a satisfactory amount of time between changing ink cartridges, under normal use.

For these models of printers and copy machines, the ink is divided into four cartridges. This is an advantage because this means the Brother cyan cartridge can be purchased separately when the cyan ink runs out, instead of having to purchase an entire color cartridge, simply because the cyan ink has run out. However, there are options to purchase the cartridges in packages with the other cartridges, as well. Generally, this is a less expensive way to purchase, when all cartridges are needed.

Although it is fairly simple to find places to purchase store brand versions of this ink, which are compatible with this cartridge, the company does not recommend using any other ink in the Brother printers, except for the official ink produced by the Brother company. They also do no recommend refilling the cartridges as this may cause problems with the printer and cartridges, in the future. The Brother company assures that their company is committed to researching to develop richer colors for their inks.

The Brother ink cartridges are fairly easy to replace. The cartridges just pop in and out from their slot inside the printer. The old cartridges should be recycled to keep from adding unnecessary bulk to the landfills.
